well, i knew i’d be right. LOTS of fighting, poor kid. got thrown out and SHE was the victim really. but hey i’m getting too realistic. props for the bowser with a mustache bit.
Kidnapping princesses is an ancient tradition, so is buying, selling and “using” them. At best, they were birds in gilded cages. Historically, they were nothing more than pawns and baby factories. I have no idea where the whole mythos that being a princess is the lap of luxury (ie the Disney fable) came from. Except maybe envy from the peasant girls and women who see the jewels and finery but not the tyranny that goes with it.
Why is it always the devout wife who is ever so wonderful and patient who gets punished? I mean there’s Sita and then there’s Penelope(from the Odyssey) What’s with all these husbands beating on their faithful wives?! Methinks history maybe a lil biast!! Lol
Because only the “good and faithful” wives put up with it. The others were outcast, witches, pariahs or Amazons. To be fair there WERE cultures were wife beating was not tolerated. They didn’t tend to last long for some reason.
I want the shadows from the 3rd and 5th panels. I want mine to do that. I really really really really want an awesome shadow like those. My shadow just follows me though… -_-
why is it that in every legend, the two big leaders always get far away from the main battle and fight one on one. you know besides honor and whatnaught. but really, shoot me for thinking like Laz here but, why do they always get so far away?
you see a definate difference in legends and reality. assassination is the way most politicians go, in legends they kill each other with swords. when i rule the world thats how you become president. to guys with claymores, one small cramped ring, and LOTS of spectators. The romans had the right idea about entertainment.
This is why I watch death race for the seventh billion time. “You can hit me, but You just can kill me!” *FAAAP*
“Your cleaning that up when we get back.”
WHOA!! is that eshita in the last panel or am I seeing things? or am I right and a dirty spoiler? Wait! don’t spoil it david! let me just sit in anticipation.
Maybe I will look into it. These comments are starting to turn that way too. As long as we make constructive critisim and talk about anything about the current page, then I believe we should be fine unless David says something about it.
Okay, is laz’s shadow controlling itself as if it has its own will, or is Laz controlling his shadow unknowingly, or is Eshita manipulating his shadow as an example of her magical illusions?
The quote bubbles make it look like the shadow is speaking, it’s really confusing me.
I forgot to add, Laz is just like me, picking holes in the logic of any folklore deity and trying to figure out the various creature’s biology and possible evolutionary paths.
yay first!

Fun comic. Thanks for making it.
Nina Paley has a neat (and free) animated interpretation of the above story called Sita Sings the Blues.
Bowser is a fun reference, and not too out there. Plus, it tells us a bit about Laz.

Well when you compare those princesses to the normal women of the time…
well at least you did not deviate from Hindu legend much…
Why is it always the devout wife who is ever so wonderful and patient who gets punished? I mean there’s Sita and then there’s Penelope(from the Odyssey) What’s with all these husbands beating on their faithful wives?! Methinks history maybe a lil biast!! Lol
Oh and… the moustache? Nice touch! LOL

Hey Worzel Gummidge had several heads, and he had no problems with blood flow or being top-heavy (Admittedly he didn’t wear them all at once)
Bowser mustache… Perhaps a failed Mario disguise.

Because the don’t want someone ninjaing their kill.
“I shall end you and”
“HEHEHEHHE LOL!!!”
“You stole me epic kill… your fired.”

nice use of the shadow of laz there :). otherwise what i expected from a exposition.
WOW…Thats…Messed up. Ya raise an army to save a princess ya don’t even plan on keeping? Dude, pointless conflict >_<

Watch your shadow, Laz.
Whats with the coloring of the speech bubbles?
Oh, Hi Pauleen, haven’t seen you in a while… (if you were going for prncss Daisy, she wears a yellow dress)
nicereference to bowser lol thats what i thought when i read the story, too
My knowledge of Hindu gods and various demons are totally not from Shin Megami Tensei’s Digital Devil Saga.
I forgot to add, Laz is just like me, picking holes in the logic of any folklore deity and trying to figure out the various creature’s biology and possible evolutionary paths.
